Buying the Consumers’ Tastes

The fashionistas at ModCloth recently stitched together a new feature for the company’s online store that gets customers in on the clothing-selection process, ultimately letting consumer sentiment influence the e-retailer’s style direction. It’s a pretty well-made plan.
Be the Buyer invites regulars (tastemakers themselves) to become “virtual fashion buyers.” A slew of designs are on the table and the winning item will be up for grabs at the retail store. Those who voted for it get first dibs. Time to test your fashion sense!

It seems to be just an experiment at this point, but we’d love to see this spirit of collaboration expanded. Continue to empower your customers and you could discover a wealth of support.

Perhaps one day ModCloth’s entire direction will be almost entirely in the consumers’ hands. Now that would be a beautiful thing.
