Here in New England, news of snow makes adults grumble. On the other hand, it sure makes kids perk up. And somewhere 75 miles west of Denver, Colorado, Copper Mountain is turning the tables, calling for adults to take a snow day of their own. “Everyone Deserves a Snow Day,” claims the campaign.
The beautiful, retro-looking site helps users get closer to the slopes with webisodes on each page, unifying the message. A name generator coins new Ski Patrol monikers. Plus, users can share their best “white lies” for skipping out on the office on Facebook. (Probably not a good idea if you’re friends with your boss.)
If you need a little help pulling it off, there’s a collection of coughs, sneezes, and groans to make you sound sicker and a tool that sends a sick message to your superior. For the bosses themselves, Copper Mountain suggests an “employee hookup” so those who deserve it can win a one-night stay at the vacation destination. Downloads, including these “white slip” and a “#1 Boss” printout, sweetens the deal.
But some of us aren’t lucky enough to be employed these days. The jobless can tell the whole, woeful tale to maybe win some free time on the slopes. And if you’re still on the hunt, Copper Mountain’s included links to your state’s online job resources.
Whether you’re employed or not, Copper Mountain is reaching out with some cleverly interactive tools—hoping you’ll give them a little business. And (cough) boss, I’m feeling a little under the weather myself…
