Because we already talked about McD's today: This can always be said about fast food commercials and it's why I hate fast food commercials, but why do they always make the value proposition to be that the food is so damn good, it's impossible to resist. In the below spot, the character chooses certain death for a few bites of McD's fries. I'm not lovin' it:
Here is fast food's story: It's cheap, it's easy and it's the same no matter where you go. These are all legitimate, positive qualities that McD's can authentically embrace. But, instead, the "restaurant" continues to maintain one of the most annoying charades in advertising: the pristine veggies on the pristine bun; a sizzling, juicy burger; lettuce flying through the air; drops of water soaring, sparkling in the sun. The reality of it, as we all know, is a product close enough to food to fool most humans and some animals. I don't demand that McD's turn off its evil marketing machine. I just demand that it be a tad more authentic. (Via)
